All-terrain wheelchairs are specially designed to traverse a wide range of natural terrains, allowing those with mobility challenges to access and enjoy outdoor recreation areas that might otherwise be inaccessible.
The chairs are free for the public to use and available for both children and adults at a growing number of parks. Each chair offers the option of allowing caretaker control or independent operation, granting those with mobility issues the opportunity to explore nature at their own direction – something that many of us take for granted.
We are actively working to advance the State’s efforts and help expand access to all-terrain wheelchairs to serve visitors across the state.
For a complete list of parks with all-terrain wheelchairs available, as well as information on reserving them for use (recommended), visit the Tennessee State Parks webpage.
