Tennessee Leaders Unite for Governor’s Conservation Summit at Montgomery Bell State Park

Governor’s Conservation Summit at Montgomery Bell State Park with state leaders, conservationists, and community members spent time outdoors in the water.

Earlier this month, conservation leaders, state officials, and community partners gathered for the 3rd Annual Governor’s Conservation Summit at Montgomery Bell State Park. Hosted by Governor Bill Lee, this inspiring event emphasized the state’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable growth.

Protecting Tennessee’s Natural Heritage

The Conservation Summit brought together more than 150 stakeholders, including representatives from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), the Wolf River Conservancy, and the WET Center. The purpose was clear: ensure that Tennessee’s natural heritage remains protected and accessible for generations to come.

Governor Lee emphasized that conservation is not only about preservation—it is also about economic opportunity. Investments in new parks, waterways, and recreational spaces create tourism, jobs, and rural growth.

Key Announcements and Highlights

One of the most exciting outcomes was the announcement of the new Office of Outdoor Recreation. This office will expand access to outdoor spaces, promote recreation for residents and visitors, and enhance Tennessee’s thriving outdoor economy.

These investments reflect a larger statewide strategy to conserve lands, improve waterways, and create new opportunities for Tennesseans to experience the outdoors.

Governor Lee is a passionate champion of harnessing conservation as a catalyst for rural economic development. Outdoor recreation contributes significantly to Tennessee’s economy, and initiatives like the Office of Outdoor Recreation will further support small businesses, tourism, and community growth.
