Roan Moutnain State Park with veiws of Tennessee and North Carolina

Spring is one of the most extraordinary times to experience Tennessee State Parks, and this year, it comes with some rare opportunities.

The Conservancy is introducing immersive experiences that connect supporters to the landscapes they help protect. These events begin a more intentional approach, offering curated, insider access for those who support Tennessee State Parks.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Tennessee’s natural beauty in a deeper, more meaningful way, this is your moment.

Wildflower Hike at Cummins Falls State Park (May 2)

Experience one of the most sought-after spring events in Tennessee State Parks with a guided wildflower hike at Cummins Falls State Park.

Led by retired naturalist and former park manager Steve Pardue. This 2–3 mile moderate hike offers more than scenic views—it’s an expert-led journey through one of Middle Tennessee’s most botanically rich environments. Along the way, you’ll discover the native wildflowers that define the season and gain insight that transforms a simple hike into a true outdoor learning experience.

Located along the Blackburn Fork River, Cummins Falls State Park spans 457 acres and has served as a beloved destination for over a century. Its namesake waterfall—standing 75 feet tall—is the eighth largest in Tennessee by volume and remains one of the most iconic natural landmarks in the state.

For those who appreciate conservation, education, and the quiet beauty of spring in Tennessee, this is a rare opportunity to experience it all in one setting.

Be a Park Ranger for a Day in Tennessee (May 16)

Step beyond the trail and into the decision-making process that protects Tennessee’s wild places.

“What About Bob?”—Be a Park Ranger for a Day is one of the most unique Tennessee outdoor type experiences offered this season. Led by retired Chief Ranger Shane Petty, this immersive event places participants inside a real 426-day search-and-rescue operation.

You’ll take on the role of a park ranger—coordinating resources, making critical decisions, and navigating the complexity of a high-stakes rescue scenario. This is a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the expertise, pressure, and responsibility required to protect visitors and preserve natural spaces across Tennessee State Parks.

Roan Mountain Guided Experience with Author Jennifer Bauer (June 27)

Continue the season with one of the most iconic Tennessee State Parks events in the Appalachian region.

On June 27, join retired Ranger Naturalist, historian, and author Jennifer Bauer for a guided exploration of Roan Mountain State Park—one of the most biologically diverse and culturally rich landscapes in the Southeast.

This immersive experience begins in the park, then ascends to the famed rhododendron gardens, visits the historic site of the former Cloudland Hotel, and concludes with a short hike to Roan High Bluff. Along the way, guests will enjoy sweeping views of both Tennessee and North Carolina. Plus, learn about rare plant species unique to the Roan.

Jennifer Bauer brings the mountain to life through its layered history and ecological significance. Therefore, offering a deeper understanding of why Roan Mountain is considered one of Appalachia’s true treasures.

Final Days to Support Your Favorite Tennessee State Park

With just days remaining, this year’s My TN State Park Fundraiser is nearing its close.

This campaign offers a simple yet powerful way to support Tennessee State Parks.
Every $1 donated equals one vote for your favorite park.

Whether you choose to support a specific park or all parks across the state, your contribution directly makes a difference to:

Build & Maintain Trails in Tennessee State Parks

Trails are the backbone of every park experience, but they require ongoing care. Donations help maintain safe, accessible trails and support the expansion of trail systems across Tennessee.

Inspire Kids to Experience the Outdoors

The Kids in Parks program removes barriers that prevent children from accessing Tennessee State Parks. Transportation costs are the number one obstacle for school field trips. Your support helps fund buses, educational materials, and unforgettable outdoor learning experiences.

For many children, this is their first introduction to the natural world.

Why Your Support Matters Right Now

For those who have long appreciated Tennessee’s outdoor spaces, this is more than a seasonal campaign. It’s a chance to shape what comes next.

Your support not only protects the landscapes you love but also helps expand experiences like these—events that bring you closer to the mission, the people, and the work happening within Tennessee State Parks.

As these programs grow, they will continue to evolve into exclusive opportunities designed specifically for supporters who invest in the future of these spaces.

About the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy

The Tennessee State Parks Conservancy exists to protect, enhance, and sustain one of the state’s most valuable resources—its state parks and natural areas.

Through donor support and strategic partnerships, the Conservancy advances initiatives that extend well beyond day-to-day park operations. Doing this by protecting trails and habitats while expanding opportunities for people of all backgrounds to experience Tennessee’s natural spaces. Their work ensures these landscapes are not only preserved, but truly open and welcoming to all.

The Conservancy deepens connections between people and the outdoors by creating opportunities for education, exploration, and long-term stewardship.

As access to nature becomes increasingly important, the Conservancy continues to connect conservation efforts with meaningful community impact.
